Synacor isn't your typical 9-to-5 kind of place. If you're looking for a structured environment with a "punch the clock" mentality, that's not us. If you're looking for a place that's challenging, flexible and fun-with a relaxed work environment-you should check us out. We also offer excellent benefits, unique company outings and other great perks. Take a look for yourself!
"At least once a day, allow yourself the freedom to think and dream for yourself." - Albert Einstein
Synacor is all about working hard—but playing hard, too. We find good people and give them freedom to do what they were hired to do.
To back it up, we’re super casual and think employees deserve to work as they’re comfortable. From the newest hire to the CEO, it’s not uncommon to see t-shirts and jeans all around the office. Need a meeting place? How about outside by the lake? Yeah, we can do that.
We take care of our employees, too. With fresh, local “Spot” coffee and espresso brewing all day, there’s always an extra shot of energy around. But don’t worry if coffee’s not your thing. Our 25 cent vending machines and free fruit cooler have plenty of other options for drinks and snacks, all day long. Speaking of the vending machines, have you seen our famed “Vending Machine Challenge?” Many have attempted; none have prevailed. It’s really entertaining, and just one of many fun office shenanigans that keep things interesting around here!
Best of all, we’re friendly. It’s easy to make great friends at Synacor with company-sponsored events for some after-hours down time. From happy hours to family-friendly outings, there’s something fun for everyone!
What we’re trying to say is, Synacor goes above and beyond to create a culture where employees are comfortable so they love coming to work every day. Here’s what a few of our people have to say:
Marketing
"Synacor has shown dedication to my on-going professional growth, which is invaluable these days. From our executive team leading the way, to those behind the scenes, I am excited for what lies ahead!"

“Synacor is a breath of fresh air! From the .25 cent vending machine to the come as you’re comfortable work environment, I have been able to excel with great opportunities to build my professional portfolio.”

We're proud to be from Buffalo, and we made a conscious decision to locate and keep Synacor's headquarters here. One thing every Buffalonian can agree on is this: There's no where else we'd rather be. It’s a great place to work—there's a mix of blue-collar and white-collar professions available, and our unemployment rate is below both the New York State and national averages. Buffalonians unite as a serious sports town, always eager to cheer on our professional sports teams, all while enjoying our fabulous culinary scene.
It was the first area to benefit from hydroelectric power harnessed by nearby Niagara Falls; enduring traditions, such as Dyngus Day, an annual post-Lenten bash; and a strong arts/cultural community, featuring one of the world's most recognized contemporary art museums, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
With a thriving performing and visual arts community, there’s always something going on to stimulate your creative side.
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and myriad professional theater companies provide endless opportunities for cultural entertainment.
The Albright-Knox is a world-class art gallery, right in our backyard, that offers stunningly impressive contemporary and modern art collections.
Across from the Albright-Knox, The Burchfield-Penney Art Center is a hub for regional art, not to mention a wide variety of locally owned galleries and shops. These cultural destinations are why American Style Magazine named Buffalo the number one arts destination among mid-sized cities.
The Elmwood Village neighborhood, for instance, was named one of America's 10 Great Neighborhoods (Source: American Planning Association), and is considered by many to be the heart and cultural soul of Buffalo, with great art, food, and a multitude of cultural options. Bound by the world famous Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Buffalo State College campus to the north—plus, the historic Allentown neighborhood to the south—the Elmwood Village community guarantees residents and visitors a diverse and unique experience.
Buffalo is located on the shores of Lake Erie and the Niagara River, on the northwestern border of New York State. The area's proximity to Lake Erie provides many great recreational opportunities.
And the waterfront area, where Synacor's headquarters is located, has become a symbol for the new direction the city is taking. There has been a resurgence in waterfront development over the past few years, including new biking/hiking trails, a visitor's center, and much more! Niagara Falls, one of the country's most beloved natural wonders, is a short drive from the city.
